The 27th annual Drop it, Build it, Fly it, Launch it, Thrill it Engineering Competition was held Saturday, March 9 at the South Florida Science Museum. More then 300 kids from elementary to high school competed for $4,000 in cash prizes in five different design contests: built bridges, protection for eggs, paper airplanes, model rockets and roller coasters. The competition was judged by the
Florida Engineering Society.

Congratulations to Lily Landstrom - for the second year in a row, she designed the grand prize winning perfect egg container to protect an egg from a 3-story drop! Her egg drop container, "Mr. Pickle" weighed 16.9 grams without the egg, and survived two falls, one from 25 feet and one from 50 feet. |
