Admissions are open now, so start working!

All the specific details and information can be found at http://forum.robotevents.com/design.

VEX Robotics Essay ChallengeThis challenge is to write a short essay on what exactly VEX Robotics means to you. Tell the judges your own story of your involvement on a competition team, in a classroom, or as a hobbyist working with VEX. Perhaps VEX robotics has made you rethink your career plans, or made you want to study engineering in college, or helped you understand physics better. Maybe you have a friend or family member who learned something valuable from their VEX experience. However VEX robotics has improved your understanding, inspired you to try something you didn’t know you could do, or even changed the course of your education - we want to hear about it.

Requirements:
A written essay of up to 250 words in on the subject of "what VEX Robotics means to me."

VRC Promote Award
The Promote Award is presented to a VEX Robotics Competition (VRC) team that has created and submitted an outstanding VEX Robotics video. The goal of this video should be to help the team introduce itself in the community, to help recruit new students, mentors, and gain support for the team. This video may be about the team, the program, the competition, the design and build process, the robot itself or any theme the team believes can help promote its VEX Robotics program in their community. The Promote Award will be awarded in conjunction with the VEX World Championships in April, 2011.

Requirements:
Promote how the VRC makes an impact on students, in the local community or schools/clubs participating in the program

Show and celebrate the team experience throughout the current and past VRC season(s), including scenes from the design, build and/or competition phases of the program
Show what students learn through their experience in the VRC

Create and post to YouTube an entertaining advertisement or short movie highlighting VEX and the VRC, up to 90 seconds long
Challenge Opens:
10-31-2010 11:01 PM
Challenge Deadline:
02-13-2011 10:59 PM

RECF Team Educational Video
This challenge offers robotics competition teams the opportunity to help other schools and clubs learn from their experience. In this challenge, schools, clubs, and teams will produce a video and a companion document on a specific subject area that new teams will learn from. We expect that you will have your own idea, but possible areas for the video include understanding how to analyze a game, how to build a specific mechanism such as a drive train, lifting arm, actuator, winch, etc., or how to best work as a team at a tournament. Use your imagination - the only restriction is that it has to contain something useful for a new team to know about competition robotics.

Requirements:
Create a video and a document designed to teach a new team what you know about some engineering, competition, or team management aspect which would help them prepare for competition robotics.
Challenge Opens:
10-31-2010 11:01 PM
Challenge Deadline:
02-13-2011 10:59 PM Prize(s):
1st: 2011 RECF Team Educational Video Award, $750 vexrobotics.com gift certificate, automatic team qualification for the 2011 VRC World Championship (if part of a registered VRC team)
2nd: $500 vexrobotics.com gift certificate
3rd: $250 vexrobotics.com gift certificate
